Gigi Horr Liverant’s work is experiential and inspired by the familiar and inconsequential moments in life. Her work bears witness to the fervor that lurks within the commonplace. Rendering with pastels or paint, she juxtaposes color into a thoughtfully designed framework to create an image that exposes the lush sensations encountered.
Liverant has painted for over 35 years, exhibiting in regional, national and international exhibitions. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including, the Flora B. Giffuni & Joseph V. Giffuni Memorial Award in 2017 and the M.H. Hurliman Armstrong Award at the Pastel Society of America in 2016, Best in Show at the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts 2014, First Prize Connecticut Women Artists and Best in Show Connecticut Pastel Society. She is an International Association of Pastel Society Master Circle member, a Pastel Society of America Master Pastelist and a Signature Member of the Connecticut Pastel Society. She has been featured in the Pastel Journal magazine and INK publications magazine.
Gigi’s paintings are included in the collection of the Lyman Allyn Museum, Connecticut College, Pfizer, Smilow Cancer Center, Three Rivers Community-Technical College and the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, in addition to numerous private and corporate collections nationally. Liverant exhibits her work at the Cooley Gallery in Old Lyme and the Granary Gallery on Martha’s Vineyard as well as numerous juried exhibitions throughout the region. Gigi teaches classes and workshops with an emphasis on the use of color.
