Recent juror comments:
M. Islen’s comments on Allegro: “Reid’s work shows such a profuse and complex use of ‘these lines’, that when combined with a mature use of color, value, and temperature… the viewer is brought into the experience: both the experience of the wetland depicted and the experience of the act of creating…a work of art”.

L. Haywood’s comments on Winter Light, winner of the American Pastel Society Award:
“Lyrically drawn landscape defined by lovely movement in the strokes of pastel. Tiny complements of orange marks are the perfect counterpoint to the blue and purple end of day palette”.

Comment on Summer Breeze:
“Talented use of lines to create trees, mountains, meadows and a sense of summer’s warm breezes.”

Comment on Spectra:
“This piece is all about energy—color, movement, the action of the pastel marks push and pull you into and around this painting.”
