The pastel demonstration originally scheduled for March 28, 2020, at the conclusion of the CPS 2020 Members’ Exhibition at SoCCA was canceled due to the coronavirus shutdown. Our demonstrator, Karen Israel, PSA-MP, IAPS/MC, CPS, graciously offered to conduct the demo for filming in the isolation of a studio in order to make the film available to CPS and the general public. Click the links below to see the demonstration in five sections through our YouTube channel.

This demo was filmed in 2 parts for a total of an hour and a half of painting time (longer with set up, etc.).
Day one was filmed by professional photographer Bill Morgan (billmorganmedia.com) and day two was at home with my iPad. I tried to give as much instruction as possible while juggling technical difficulties and the unease at speaking to myself, wondering if I was making sense as I painted and spoke.
I have included an additional progress shot with a final photograph of “The Beholder”. As I painted this, I debated the need to change the composition from my original plan but as you can see, I did not do that.
I am happy to answer any questions. You can get in touch with me at artbykarenisrael.com or my email: karenisrael59@gmail.com
