Anne Heywood

I strive to entice the viewer to go beyond what is seen, to what is felt.

Anne Heywood is an American Realist known for her modern and traditional landscapes, still lifes, and pet portraiture. Her work is appreciated for its moods and unique creativity, reflecting Anne’s New England roots and twelve years living in Naples, Italy.

Heywood is the recipient of many honors and awards, most recently the prestigious Eminent Pastelist designation conferred by the International Association of Pastel Societies at their 2015 Biennial Convention in Albuquerque, NM. Anne is also the recipient of the Dr. Adrian Tinsley Award for Achievement in the Arts from Bridgewater State University, Massachusetts. She is author/illustrator of the book Pastels Made Easy, published by Watson-Guptill Publications, NYC. Her writings and paintings have been featured in national and international publications, including Australian Artist Magazine and The Pastel Journal. In addition, Heywood was recognized by the company Great American Art Works with their Anne Heywood Masterclass Assortment of 78 pastels.

A signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Connecticut Pastel Society, Anne is also a signature and founding member of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, and an artist member of the Copley Society, the Salmagundi Club, and the National Association of Women Artists. Her educational background includes a B. A., Art, summa cum laude. She is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in American Women.

Heywood maintains studios in Massachusetts and Maine. She accepts commissions for custom paintings and pet portraits, and offers workshops, presentations, and demonstrations privately and to various professional art and social organizations. Her paintings can be found in both national and international corporate and private collections. Heywood’s work is represented in Massachusetts at her working studio in East Bridgewater and at the offices of the Thompson & Lichtner Co. in Canton upon appointment, and in Maine at Gifts at 136, Damariscotta, the Portland Art Gallery, Portland, and the Heywood Gallery, Waldoboro.
