Remarks by the 2011 Jurors:

The Connecticut Pastel Society has done it again!

This is a beautifully hung exhibit, filled with commendable and diverse works of art. Jurying a show is a great responsibility, one that I take seriously. As an artist, I appreciate the feelings each exhibitor has, the anticipation and vulnerability, as well as the elation or disappointment that follows. There’s always a degree of subjectivity, and those works not receiving awards are not without merit. The pieces selected stand out for their compelling images that draw one in to look further, where one sees a high level of drawing skills, technique, and overall beauty. Congratulations!

Thank you for the opportunity to see so many strong works showing technical merit and creativity in the CPS Renaissance in Pastel Show. I felt the exhibit was extremely well hung, and after seeing the exciting entries in this show, I would like to consider a pastel invitational for my Gallery. As a fine arts dealer, I based my award choices on drawing skill, emotional empact, originality, atmospheric perspective, color harmony, and quality of the pastel medium from the soft and subtle to the bold and colorful.

I will be back a second time to see this beautiful show!!
